UChicago asks for one science/math recc and one english/social studies recc. Can my AP Psychology teacher write my science recc? Psych is considered a science but a social science...what do you guys think?

I used my Psych teacher's rec for the english/social studies recommendation. I think you should ask your current math or science teacher for a recommendation. No need for any risks.

I agree with your recommendation about recommendations. At college level, psychology is generally regarded as a social/behavioral science, and you're better off following the admissions office's request.

That said, you really want to have strong recommendations by teachers who can speak well and in an informed way about you.

if i want to send an additional letter of rec, can i hv my history teacher send it?

Yes. As long as you meet the basic request by the admissions office, if you can add a rec from someone who can make an enthusiastic case for you and provide some insight to help the admissions committee to make an informed (and positive) decision, go for it!

I hear they throw extra letters of reccomendation in the trash

You "hear" this? What else do you hear, and where do you hear it?

I only sent in 3 recs. And I'm regretted now because I didn't send it my fourth incredible one.
Do you guys think it's too late to send it an extra one?

Chicago is very picky about it's rec letters. My English teachers were protesting low wages by not writing rec letters. My social science teachers were either out on maternity leave or gone for the school year. They still made me get a rec letter from my English teachers, when I had a Latin teacher I'd known for two years.

I'm lucky my English teacher loved me.
