and no guidance counselor recommendation?

I submitted two, plus a counselor recommendation. You can submit as many as you want.

^^That's what I did, too.

thank you!

Rice uses the Common App, so yes, it does require a Guidance Counselor rec along with your SSR.

to be safe, submit 2 teacher recs and a guidance counselor one

Wow, I had no clue you could submit two teacher recommendations. Is it too late to submit a second one? It would definitely help me out, but I don't want to seem like the type of person who sends stuff in really late...

Since you're applying ED (I read your chances thread), I think it's too late for this kind of stuff. They're in the middle of reviewing applications now. Besides, if your first teacher recommendation is strong, you won't really need the second. If I were in your shoes right now, I wouldn't send it in. If I got accepted ED, then the second recommendation obviously wasn't needed. If I got rejected, then maybe it was. And if I got deferred, I would later send in the second recommendation to add to my applicant file and indicate my continued interest in Rice; it would probably strengthen your application for RD too. Just my opinion, but it's up to you. Good luck! You seem like an interesting person, so hopefully, we'll be classmates next year!

I asked this question to Mrs. Villafranca (Rice admissions officer) at a college fair a while ago, and she said that there's really no limit but she doesn't want to be reading too many letters. If I remember right, she said 2 letters is recommended, but if you have a strong 3rd one that you feel would be a good addition, it's no problem.
