I'm not sure if both of my teachers submitted their recc's yet. All of my stuff is in, so is it going to look bad if the recc's are late?

No. Recommendations don't HAVE to be in by today. As long as they don't get there in, like say, December, you'll be okay. Make sure they get them in ASAP.

Try to get them in within a week. Yale will probably let you know whether they are in or not and give you some time to remind your teachers. Your stuff was due yesterday, but most of us don't have as much control over when our teachers send their stuff in.

Yeah, luckily at my school the guidance dept. send everything, including recc's so if my teachers havent given them in yet, my counselor should be hounding them about it.

Good to hear that it doesn't have to be in by Nov. 1

But my teachers sent it sometime last week

it's just that they didn't "notify to opt out" of using the online method on the letter sent by Common App

So my application status is still yellow square just bc of that

huh, um should I tell my teachers to respond to the mail or something?

I'm in a similar situation. I didn't know that if I didn't electronically invite my teachers I couldn't submit my application online, so I went ahead and gave common app forms to them. Since Yale requires the supplement and payment to be submitted before the main app online, I had already sent those before I figured this out. Eventually I had to "invite" the teachers, and I told them to disregard the invite because they had already sent the paper forms. Will this work itself out? Is there anything else I should do? I

My teacher still hasn't submitted my recommendation either, which, even though it's alright, still nags at me. Although I'm surprised because she started the forms early Oct., then said she finished the rough drafts a while back, yet she missed the deadline.

Yeah, the Common App was a little confusing/unclear about this. Don't worry too much about your teachers missing the SCEA deadline...I hear Yale is pretty lenient about teacher recs. Just remind them to send them in ASAP.

When you check the status of your app on commonapp.org, does it say that you're teachers have submitted the recs? I know my teachers sent it by mail last week, but the commonapp says my teachers haven't submitted the forms yet..

Mine just says "offline" next to school forms. Which I assume means that I'm doing them offline. Which I am. And I know one of my teachers sent in her rec (beginning of October) before I even sent in my app (mid-October) and it is my only red arrow.

But when you get your Eli ID, and you go check your app status on the Yale website, it'll tell you that that web page will inform you on Nov. 15th if all the forms aren't in. So I think they're not expecting it until then, anyways.
