I think they just have that "Experience Case" events, in which only admitted students are allowed. You can do an overnight then. Not sure if that's the only thing for accepted students.

For information on tours, visits, etc. go to http://admission.case.edu/admissions/visit/default.asp

Case was not my son's first choice but a very strong second. Again, so much depends on how much the school will give him $$$. In fact, the more he looks at Case, the more he is thinking it is his first choice. We really like everything about it but when son found out about the mandatory Sages program he suddenly was not sure.

He applied to six schools, dropped one of them off his list almost immediately. His first choice? I don't believe they will accept him (deferred for now). Seems his list changes weekly as to which one is the strong school or first place school. They all have their plusses and minusses.

Case is hiring additional faculty to handle the Sages thing, which is probably good as it encourages interaction early on.

mominin, it may end up being a good thing that his first choice is constantly changing. My dad is constantly telling me not to have my heart set on one college, in case in doesn't work out. Unfortunately, it's a little too late for that (I LOVE Case). I can only hope and pray that everything work out with Case! :)

finally got a decision....

I'm in!! yay

1350 (620v, 730m); 3.74 UW; 4.37W

Congrats, kitman!

Got letter from case, 19,400 per

It's a happy thing

congratulations kitman and radar!

You lucky people!..Well not lucky, but you get the point, congrats. No $$ for me :( It's all good though, Case is Case.

Case did get a lot of applications EA. My son just got this note from his admissions officer:

"As the admission counselor who works with applicants from your area, I wanted to give you a quick status update. I know you're anxiously awaiting your admission decision. We had an unanticipated large increase in early action applications this year, and as a result, we are behind schedule in delivering admission decisions. "

It goes on to apologize for the delay, and says that EA decisions will be out by the end of January, and RD by March 1st.

Finally got a reponse and I am in. Too bad PPSP doesn't notify sooner.

My daughter got her email that she's in, and on their web site, you can sign up for a visit for accepted students with an overnight. She already signed up for February 20-21, we'll go take a look and see Cleveland as well. We haven't been there yet, from the Northeast.

Same here. S got in, not first choice, and we're waiting to see if he gets any gelt. You never know.....

We cancelled out visit to Case. D got great scholarship from them, but she heard from Vanderbilt that she's a finalist for a scholarship program she applied for. They are flying her there for a visit to the program and interview, etc.. so we will schedule the trip to Case Western another time if necessary. Their scholarships are pretty much what they show on their site, based on rank in class and SAT scores. So you can probably figure out which scholarship your S will get.

I realize that Case states March 1 for noficiation of regular decision, but did anyone out there get accepted after applying RD by chance? Latest automatic email reply from the website states that they are still working on my D's information. She was RD in mid-December. I was hoping that they start sending out acceptances to RD applicants after getting the EA's out of the way and trying to get all of them out by March 1.

Good Luck to everyone still waiting.

bsonln: Looks like we are waiting for some of the same schools! We still didn't hear from SHC yet, but did get an acceptance from Case about a week ago, along with $. I hope your daughter gets some good news, too! BTW, did she apply to CMU also? Also, does anybody know if colleges send out letters in one big batch (by major, school or w/e), or do they send them out as the apps are reviewed?

lkf725:
She didn't apply to CMU, we only visited. She wasn't interested because it was too close to home and she wasn't real enthused about taking the SAT II. Plus I'm not sure she wanted to be a legacy considering that's where I went to school. Not having the SAT II eliminated any possiblity of Ivy League or some of the other top schools that require them, although I've heard some will negotiate with the ACT as a replacement.

She is accepted to Pitt, Villanova, and Penn State Main. She also applied to Notre Dame and Case. Of course, you already know that we are waiting for SHC. Notre Dame acceptances aren't out until early April. Nothing came in the mail today and no new emails. The waiting continues . . . . . . .

I wonder if it is worth sending a non-refundable deposit to Case. Does this give you any advantage in dorm selection? Would there be a disadvantage to sending it in closer to the deadline? Thanks

The following is from the Case website:
http://studentaffairs.case.edu/living/housing/undergrad/

"North Residential Village
All first year students live together in the NRV. Housing assignments are based on the date of your application. "

The question is, when they say "application" is that the admission application or the housing application. I guess an email or call to Case's Housing Dept. would answer the question. The contact information is at the bottom of the webpage listed above.

If you ask them, please let us know what you find out. Maybe someone else out there knows already.

BTW, when we visited Case, we got a chance to see the NRV rooms and they seemed pretty nice.
