Receive Financial Aid Package

We received the tentative financial aid package today.
It is very good. Dartmouth will give us $31k grant.
Our EFC is about $6000.

that sounds wonderful. It looks like this is going to be an affordable option for your family.

I don't want to be an intruder, but how much does your family make per year to get that package.

My parents together make around 90k, but they both have their own businesses, so we have to pay 10k per year for health insurance, etc. Thus, money will be a big issue for me applying to an ivy league school.

yes, sybbie719
We are very satisfied with that package.
Our family income is $50k. One person works.
We put $14k into 401k so our AGI is $36k.

FYI, the money that you set aside to your 401K is acutally added back in as income when they calculate your FA.

Since the college requires both the FAFSA and the CSS profile they do look at a number of thing when putting together a package; your income, assets, home equity, the business, the age of your parents (as a portion of their income is "protected' for retirement), other siblings either in college or are in secondary school where parents are paying tuition.
