My D is RD at Sarah Lawrence for Fall 2014. Today, March 14, I received a brochure addressed to the parents, "Success After Sarah Lawrence," and my daughter received a follow up letter about getting all financial aid info in from the Dean of Enrollment. Is this a good sign that she may be admitted? What has been your past experience? My D is a perfect fit for this school.

We got the same mailing. We were so excited getting those big envelopes that we could barely open them… only to have our bubbles burst when we found what amounted to advertising. So frustrating! Unfortunately I suspect they are form letters sent to every applicant and their families.

Hi Charleysmom – I wonder though…would seem they would not spend money on mailings to encourage applicants as that part of things is already closed – rather, perhaps, they try to encourage those who will be accepted to attend, you think?

Hi all! My D applied RD as well…and we also received those same mailings. No idea if everyone who applied got one or not. 8-|

Here’s a question…we cannot seem to find out when the admit notifications go out? The SLC webiste is vague. Previous years’ posts on CC reference the “big envelope” in the mail, but again, no idea on the date. Are they still mailed? Emailed This week? Next week?

We, too, received two BIG envelopes. One addressed to me, yesterday, and one for DD today. Hers was from Admissions, so really threw us. Alas, it, too, was promo material, stating they looked forward to receiving her application. What is with that? She applied a long time ago and has had not so much as a recognition of receipt of anything. Very disturbing.

We received them, too, a few days ago, but laplatinum, my daughter did get an email acknowledging her application and directing her to visit MySLC for status information. Come to think of it, she also got an email reminder to complete the CSS for financial aid. You might want to give them a call to make sure they have her materials; they clearly have her in their system somewhere for you to have received the brochures, but I’m not sure of that and wouldn’t hesitate to check if it were my daughter’s application. I’ve misplaced the letter that came with the brochures, but I don’t remember it saying that they looked forward to receiving her application (but who knows if I really processed it once I realized that it was promotional :)) Maybe others here can shed light on that!

My D is a RD applicant. I received an interesting letter today from the Dean of Enrollment. It begins:

Dear Parent,
Your D took the first step towards a deeper education by submitting an application to SLC. As a parent, you might want to know what that means and what opportunities await your child over the next few years and beyond.

Is this a good sign that she might be admitted or just advertising?

Another CC person sent me an email for the West Coast admissions advisor. DD emailed her and got an immediate response with information about how to logon, along with an apology that she never received anything to begin with. Unfortunately, now MySLC no longer has information about WHAT they might need from you since the system is suspended until they deliver results on 4/1. We can only hope now that she did have everything in that they wanted.
