Received Brown brochure

Applied Brown RD and waiting for the decision.
Today when I checked mail box, I found this 8 pages colorful Brown information brochure.
Do you think It’s a good sign or it will be sent out to all applicant?

Why does Brown send brochure to senior at this time of the year?

I got one too. I would like to think that it means something but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t…

bumpp… Did anyone else get one? My mail hasn’t come yet. I would assume that’s a good sign! Of course, they could just be sending them out to applicants of a certain prospective major or something, too.

We received that too. Son did not apply to Brown. Seems very odd (not to mention, expensive) to be sending those out at this particular time - a mistake??

It means absolutely nothing. Brown just sends those out to people on their mailing list. It was probably a mistake that you got it at this point in your senior year - I still get emails from a few universities trying to recruit me, and I’m a freshman in college.

but we never got Brown’s brochure before…?

I think it’s just to do with the mailing list. I received the same brochure you’re speaking of but did not even apply for this year.

My son applied RD and received the brochure also. I’m thinking Brown hasn’t updated their mailing list. Otherwise, at this point in time, it’s like a “hah hah, see what you’ll be missing if you don’t get accepted” message.

We got one too a few days ago, and were wondering if it was a mistake, or (hoping) they were trying to tell us something. My son is a senior who applied, had an interview with an alum, and is obviously on some list. In any case, it was another “kind of fat” envelope. My guess is that it really doesn’t mean anything, and that Brown wasn’t very efficient in sending out this mailing. But, one can always hope… GLTA!

Generally, these things don’t really mean anything, as they’re just sent to people on their mailing list.

I’d disregard it, probably as a mailing list failure. Sometimes you’ll get put back onto a mailing list for prospective applicants if you do something that sends your name out, so you might have accidentally ended up back on their main list somehow. (For example, every time I took a standardized test, I got mail from the schools that I had previously unsubscribed from).

We received one too. We applied RD this year and waiting for the decision. We are interpreting that as meaning nothing.

I got it too; it means nothing. I do, however, think this is poor timing from a school as respected as Brown.

Does anyone else think the brochure was remarkably tacky for a school with a dual-degree program with RISD?
