received D now what?

so not sure how exactly it happened, but it did, i ended up with a D this semester in my college algebra class. my GPA the two previous semesters has been around 3.5, and this semester i only had a 2.450, with this semester taken into consideration i go from a 3.34 to a 3.083. i was wondering how can i withdraw my tags, and also what chances i have at getting into the uc's, i am wondering what my chances are for ucr, ucd, ucsd, and uci. my major is philosophy and i still have above a 3.0, i'm hoping that this will give me a few options :-(. well any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. oh and also i will have the igetc completed at the end of spring, even with the D. thank you.

You won’t need to withdraw a TAG, the school will simply count you as a normal applicant rather than a TAG student. With a 3.08, you won’t get into UCSD. The GPA floor for last year’s applicants was a 3.2 (non-TAG) for non-impacted majors. That’s probably going to stay the same, and definitely won’t go down. You’re likely in at UCI and definitely in at UCR. Don’t know about UCD.

You’ll still need to pass that college algebra class next semester.

how are you planning on having igetc completed with the D? correct me if i’m wrong, but i believe you have to get a C or better to get credit for any class.

@blkbox: He’s planning on having IGETC completed by the end of spring, which means he’ll have to re-take the math class by then.

thanks for the info, and i’m taking stats next semester, so as long as i pass that ill have the igetc completed. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure i pass stats. ok so i dont have to worry about changing anything on my application or the tag page then? thank you.

Nope, don’t have to change anything. On the UC update this month, you’ll need to add that you’re taking stats in the spring.

Maybe I missed something but why do you need to withdraw your TAGs? Your GPA is still over a 3.0 cumulatively…

@itswoodflavoured: TAG requires that you complete your math/English classes by fall the year before you plan on enrolling. By failing his final IGETC math course (college algebra), he’s disqualified himself from TAG.

cry…

u still need only a 3.0 gpa to transfer with tag for ucsd right? i think ucsb is 3.2 but it isnt for ucsd right guys?

@movingunit: yes, you only need to earn a cumulative 3.0 UC GPA for tag at UCSD. However, you have to have completed your math and english requirement by Fall 2010.
