Well I gotten my decision letter today and apparently they gave me the choice of attending USF ST PETE Summer B or be wait-listed at Tampa. Due to the fact that apparently there is a record applications for Tampa I am playing it safe and going to summer B.

I visited the Tampa campus but haven't visited St Pete. How is the housing and the academic situation there? How is the USFSTPT campus in general?

Ndynslvr, If you are considering attending USF-St. Pete, I would encourage you to visit the campus asap if at all possible. USF-Tampa and USF-St. Pete operate independently, with very little interaction. They share the “USF” brand, but that is about it. The Tampa campus is 2000 acres with about 38,000 students, St. Pete might have 5000 students on a few city blocks. The campuses are about a 45 minute drive from each other on opposite sides of Tampa Bay. I think USF-St. Pete on campus housing is only one apartment bldg. that fills fast–you need to call them to see about housing asap. What I am trying to say is if you think what you saw in Tampa is what is in St. Pete–it isn’t. USF-St Pete could be a perfect match for you, but it is much different than Tampa. I posted my description of the St. Pete campus in a post here a few months ago too. Good luck!

They are 45 minutes apart? Looks a lot closer on the map. >.>

Anyways I also wish to know how difficult is the USF Tampa business school to get in? I wish to major in accounting and I heard entry to the program is pretty tough. I intend to transfer to the main campus by the time I am done with the year at St.Pete’s.

Ndynslvr, You should talk directly to USF St. Pete officials about what is involved in transfering to USF Tampa, it might not be as easy as you think. USF St. Pete and USF Tampa are independent, separately accredited institutions–USF St. Pete is not a branch campus of USF Tampa. I don’t think students enrolled at either college are even allowed to take classes at the other college any more. It doesn’t really matter how long it takes to drive from Tampa to St. Pete (rush hour traffic can be murder) because you won’t be attending both at the same time. I don’t mean to throw a wrench in your plans, but you need to check all this stuff out so you don’t have any misunderstandings.

Well my acceptance letter did specifically say that I can “potentially” change my home campus to Tampa, provided that I have a 3.0 GPA and 30 credits.

Good. It sounds like you’ve got things under control. You might just like it so much in St. Pete that you complete your studies there anyway…nothing wrong with that either. Again, good luck and I wish much success in college.

I still wish to know how difficult it is to get into the USF Tampa business school since that school is very good in terms of CPA exam pass rate.
