Received random dvd in the mail from USAFA

I was wondering if anyone else here received in a brown first class envelope just the dvd, “Earning The Hear of the Falcon”? It didn’t come with any paperwork or anything, just the dvd by itself. In conjunction with the postcard I received from the academy in Dec. I think this is another hint and is a good sign.

I believe they send it to all applicants. I got mine yesterday, and I already have an appointment. Pretty cool DVD though.

I actually got mine Jan. 2nd. Given that there was nothing else with it, I don't think it stands for anything other than a means to help candidates decide if that's what they really want to do.
Again, the postcard from the academy I believe was sent to everyone just to serve as a reminder if anything is still outstanding from the application process, to get it taken care of.
So they really don't mean much. They're not necessarily good, but they're definitely not bad.

Son got his in the mail yesterday. Kind of odd, as AMS said it was a brown first class envelope with a DVD inside, no case, no sleeve, just the DVD with no paperwork/note/or explanation...

We also got this DVD. Didn't read anything into it. I looked at the timestamp on the files and it was Oct 2008. So they made a promotional video and wanted all of the candidates to have a copy.

I got one, too. Like vullnnoid said, it's just a promo video.

I feel so left out. How am I ever to decide if the academy is the place for me without this ever-so-important promotional DVD?

hahah, nice.

Ya dood when I got it I was so convinced!! Like there's no way that I would have even considered going to the academy without this DVD!! Gah, I'm so wishy washy. (sarcasm)

No but seriously it was a pretty good DVD. I like the part where they say that the falcon likes to make its nest on pointy rocks up high in the mountains!! It made me feel like a man!!

lol
oh boy...

Poor Bluesuiter. DOn't worry, I never got the DVD. Or the postcard either. I don't think admissions like me at all.

And I didn't get a DVD either... We should all join together as the non-DVD recipients... :)

capt_newman - If you end up in my squad next year I swear I will beat you myself before the cadre get a chance. I am willing to bet that I can think of some rather... interesting... ways to make you into a man before zero week is over.

pssgiraffe08 - Don't worry about the DVD, as long as you get in who cares?

kmc2usafa - Sounds like a plan. Set up the facebook group and I'll be sure to point people in the right direction. It would be a GREAT way to get singled out for BCT. "We didn't get promotional material" could be a LOT of fun to spell out while doing pushups and flutter kicks.

Mateus - I am thinking that if the snowboarding, rock climbing, or carrier landings don't reel me in... a DVD just wouldn't cut it. This place rocks! I have four more years of vacation planning before I have to worry about a real job again.

Sorry blue suiter just a joke...we cool?

So did u get a dvd??

-I have four more years of vacation planning before I have to worry about a real job again.

LOL. I know, right? (I never had a "real" job before coming here, but I get where you're coming from). I found out I'm going to Phoenix for Spring break on the Alternative Spring Break trip. $20.00 per cadet, all other expenses paid, minus food; transportation, lodging, and several days to do as we please while we get there. I'm psyched. And I will totally join your group, except I'm an actual cadet, so the whole getting beat during basic doesn't really apply to me anymore.

Besides, I still have that cd of 2010 going through basic- it still makes me laugh. I think that will help me get through recognition. It'll also get a bunch of the guys on here coming looking for me, but hey, what the heck? It's only three days, right?

And 43 days to go, in case anyone's tracking that.

Well I had a real job before the military, I have been in for almost four years, and now I have nothing to do for another four years. It is AWESOME!!! I get paid to do absolutely nothing, although for some reason I got stuck being the unofficial group comm guy. I blame it on my old day job. Still, beats working for a living.

What was your AFSC?

Hm...four year vacation...
That's a big claim, and one that a few people would probably be quick to change.

Really raimius? There is SO much free time here, even during the 4dig year, that I think it isn't as bold of a claim as you make it seem. Besides, if you look a little closer at what I said I was talking about vacation planning. This place is great for mini-vacations - much better than my last duty station - and I think you would be a fool not to take advantage of that.

Are you one of the crazy cadets that actually stays on base during the weekends?

as a freshman, you are frequently restricted and/or out of passes depending on the squad...and out of money ;)
