I received the Scarlet Award for $2500 per year. To me that seems very little. I thought my stats were good enough to get more. On the paper it says I could possibly get more depending on my FAFSA form. Let's say my household income was 70k with 3 dependents. How much more could I get? Also am I stupid and this amount of money is actually pretty good ? Thanks guys and gals!!!!

Got the Scarlet Award for both SAS & Business- $2,500. 1970 SAT Top 10%.

i got 2,500 a year too and am quite ****ed to be honest, that seems incredibly low for SAS, my stats: 3.95 W GPA, 2300 SATs, top 10%.

probably just me being bitter but there is no way in hell that i’m going to rutgers now! I was counting on at least 1/2 tuition

Seems like its going to end up being a $2,500 merit scholarship and anything above that will be awarded based on need.

I’m not getting anything need based from anywhere unfortunately… this actually makes me nervous for all of my other REAL college applications

Oh man I don’t feel as bad as before now. 2300? really. A couple of my friends’ got the presidential scholarship with i think 2300s. I’m sorry man or women haha. I’m sure there are better schools for you.

As for me Rutgers is the only one. Question though? Since Rutgers has 40k people does that mean you either get Presidential or Scarlet? Is there any other scholarship? Thanks guys or gals!!

there are a few type of scholarships they offer, a few of them are on their financial aid page, here’s the link:

[Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Costs/Scholarships/FirstYearScholarships.aspx)

I’ve never seen any mention of the Scarlet Scholarship before. Wonder if thats a new name for this year. As for need money, I won’t be getting any either. Hoping for some outside scholarships to cover some more costs.

Has anyone got a scholarship from the Engineering School yet? I have similar stats to you guys and have yet to receive anything.

no, it’s definitely not stupid to want more… 2 years ago they were giving out presidential scholarships across the board if you had 1500 SATs, now that’s reduced to $2500? i’m thinking everybody is getting jipped this year.

cerps: i believe my friend got the presidential for engineering, but that was way back in December.

it’s a very unfortunate year… damn holistic review

The $2500 for me is for the School of Engineering. But I am a little less angry now. I talked to people in my school who scored way higher than me (I scored 1370/1600 and they have like pretty much high 1400s or low 1500s) and they received the same amount. Still it’s going to be hard for everyone to pay for college. How much financial aid could i possibly get? Thanks guys and gals

just received another letter, the newark SAS offered me an extra $6,000 a year for the Chancellor Scholarship, the new brunswick one, however, has yet to send me anything else… maybe each individual scholarship is mailed separately… fingers crossed for the eventual presidential!

Yep, I got that dreadful letter in the mail, too, granting me a whopping $2500 a year. I hate to sound bitter about it, but at least there’s a comfort in knowing that other great students such as yourselves are having a problem with Rutgers’ scholarship system as well.
-sigh- Let’s hope for more offers from Rutgers, soon.

i got the same also for the presidential scholarship, application + fee had to be in by December 1st. My fee didn’t make it until December 5th sigh

Unfortunately, I believe what happened with TCNJ has happened to Rutgers, except Rutgers is still giving out full scholarships, just a lot less. (TCNJ stopped giving out full rides last year, when I applied. The highest one could receive was $6,500 a year.) Today, the Daily Targum ran an article about how Christie cut $18.5 million from the university’s budget (as well as other amounts from other NJ public universities). I know they were already having trouble hiring enough TAs for chemistry labs this semester because of the budget cuts they probably suspected, so they have to cut down on the scholarships now that the cut is real.

[Daily Targum - Christie slashes $18.5M from University funding](http://www.dailytargum.com/news/christie-slashes-18-5m-from-university-funding-1.2156664)

Of course, this is speculation on my part. It seems very logical to me, though.

And, if there are more scholarships on the way, then this speculation will be irrelevant.

Because Rutgers has budget cut problem past few years, scholarships have been reduced. Even the salaries of professors have been same, and this is a big issue right now because they are hiring new faculties for cheaper pay but some are very bad.

Ahh man. I was hoping the economy would not greatly affect us. Boo!! This sucks because I’m majoring in some field of engineering and will definetly will be pursuing my masters or doctrate. Us, incoming college kids are going to have so much to pay off in loans after college. I have an off topic question: Does Rutgers Engineering have some kind of intern program or something like that where one can work at lets say Boeing or soemthing like that while still pursuing my bachelor’s? I was hoping Christie would actually help us. Oh well. Thanks guys and gals!!!

Grrr Christie >:0 I guess they have to cut the budget somewhere. But Rutgers still has super cheap tuition compared to the other schools I applied to.
