Hi,
My application was officially “completed” three days ago (meaning that, while my app was submitted on 9/10, they just received all my materials a few days ago), and I was wondering approximately how long it should be until I hear a decision. I know that decisions just started being released last week, so I’m not expecting to hear back anytime this/next week, but I’ve had friends tell me that they heard back within two days.
I’m so impatient and anxious to see mine. They had all of my stuff a week ago. Hopefully it will come sometime this week, since I’m a Kelley Direct Admit.
My D and her best friend are still waiting as well and they had their information submitted in August. One girl from their HS heard last week and her stats are not as good as my D and her friend. They are both scheduled to do a visit on the 19th so we were hoping to hear by then. She’s already been accepted to two others schools so she is getting a little disappointed with not hearing, especially knowing her stats are above the required for Direct Admit to the School of Education and the fact she submitted her information in August.
Did the people who have received acceptances already use the IU application or the Common Application? I wonder if it is taking a little longer for the Common Application since I think that is new for IU. Dcolosi – did your daughter and her friend use the Common Application?
@Need_coffee my D used the common app, not sure about her friend. She completed the app on 8/2 but her HS didn’t send out the transcripts until 8/29. The status on both her and her friends portal didn’t reflect receipt of the transcripts for about two weeks. Her portal status as of yesterday still showed under review but it reflects the receipt date of her app as 8/2.
My D’'s friend’s boyfriend also applied and he was denied last Friday but his stats are lower then both of the girls. My D did get an e-mail confirming everything received about two weeks ago, maybe a bit longer.
I should also add that she applied as Regular Decision not Early Action so not sure if that is factoring into it at all.
UPDATE - IUSaidYes! Both my D and her best friend checked their accounts a few minutes ago and both have now been accepted to IU. She actually started crying she was so happy.
Thanks. When we looked on her portal she also was give 4 tasks to do. She is being asked to complete the SSA (Select Scholarship Application) and with that are essay’s and letters of recommendations. App and essays are due by 12/16 so looks like more work to do. Just don’t see how we get to the application yet so wonder if that will come in separate email or in the welcome letter. Until we get the application we don’t know what the essay prompts are so can’t start working on it.
@dcolosi you will need to go to One.iu and search for “scholarships”. There will be a money sign that is what you’ll need to click. From there you’ll log in and there should be a link to submitting the SSA. I got accepted on Monday and have already finished my entire application already except for essays. In the application is where you’ll find the essay prompts. Hope this helps!
@rossbusiness thank you. That is what I needed. I found the information doing the search so guess she will get started on that tonight. That welcome page also indicated to her that she will be direct admit and the invitation for that will be coming later. She is very excited.
@stress17 My application was submitted 9/10, completed 10/02 @pschnee I believe 5PM EST @dcolosi Congratulations to both! @hadmeathello Congratulations! @Need_coffee From what I noticed strictly from the few people I know who applied, the one that applied directly from the IU website is the only one admitted, despite the fact that those that applied via Common App technically “applied” before.
@ciancija actually my D and her friend both did Comm App so both Common App and IU app’s look like they are getting acceptances. I don’t know if theirs took longer because of the Common App or if it was due to them being Direct Admit and getting the SSA invite.
@Rebels23 you can check the Common App to see if IU has downloaded the application. It took about two week for them to download my D’s but that was back in August when it first opened up so it may be faster now. Also, once they do you will get an e-mail to set up your IU account to check your status. It took a few days after they downloaded the app for her to get her log in information.
