Due to a personal situation, I might have to drop one of my classes and receive a "W".

Since it's my last semester at community college and I'm also waiting on admissions decisions, how badly will this affect me?

I was also considering changing the grading option for the class for "credit/no credit" aka pass or fail, since it won't reflect on my GPA.. As of right now I'm stuck on what to do. Would it be better to drop with a "W" or do credit/no credit?

Should I still report the dropped class, even though admissions decisions might come out before the UCs see my schedule change?

I might up end up w/ this problem, but the class i’m dropping has no impact on my major or IGETC, or anything else. I just took the class as extra “filler” to make sure i wouldn’t lose my parents insurance.

Please report any changes as early as possible so that we have the most current information when working with your file. All changes in coursework should be reported.

I would definitely recommend taking it Credit/No Credit. I’m doing this for my Biology (ugh) class this semester. As per my Berkeley TAP adviser, you can take up to 14 units of non-major IGETC classes for C/NC and be in the clear.

I dropped a lot of stuff during the last semster and made lots of random changes, i reported them all and it had no negative impact- however, none of my courses were major prep or IGETC related.

Yeah, I dropped a class in my last semester too. It wont be a problem as long as its not a pre req or IGETC requirement and you still have over 60 units. I would personally just take the class P/F though.

Hmm… the class isn’t a pre req or IGETC requirement. It’s a random music class, which is why I want to drop it.

If it take it pass/fail, does the actual GRADE show up on my transcript along with pass/fail or does it just show if I passed or failed the class without the grade?

I’ll be emailing the UC app center with my changes ASAP once I figure this out.

Thanks nixie… so I guess it would be better to take pass/fall then get a W?
If I do pass/fail I’ll probably just stop going to the class but I’ll feel really bad about it… guilty conscience I guess :

hey, it could be worse like me. I got a W, a C, and a F’s. I’m doom! but hey i’m still optimistic, i’ll keep working hard and won’t give up my dream!
