I applied to UW-Seattle and UW-Tacoma about 7 weeks ago as a transfer student.

UW-Tacoma told me it should take only about 4 - 6 weeks to receive a decision.

Just wondering...

Did anyone receive an admission decision from UW-Tacoma as a transfer yet?

@kevinsauer, my admission letter was dated on March 12.

Thanks for the reply…my unofficial transcript uploaded today. Im so happy :)

May I ask you when were your credits transfer? My transfer credit amount is still at 0 right now. Do i have book an appointment with an advisor?

Transferring from one UW campus to another is not the same as transferring from a community college or another four-year institution. You’re technically not considered a transfer student; only your major code is changed to one that is associated with the UW Seattle campus. As a result, you don’t receive transfer credit and you maintain the same credits/GPA you had prior to transferring.

It’s a complete mess of a system because since you’re not officially considered a transfer student, your courses are never transferred. What this means is that you won’t be able to register for upper division classes with your current pre-requisites. Instead, you need to go run around during registration day and contact individual departments for add codes (which can take a while since you’re on their schedule), precisely because your courses are never formally equivalized to those of the Seattle campus.

In my experience, it’s really horrible, especially if you want to get into a class that’s already full. The UW still hasn’t fixed this deprecated system and they don’t seem to care enough to mitigate the issues that plague a minority of students (UW Bothell-Tacoma transfers). To make matters worse, some departments adopt the “not my problem” attitude.

I seriously hope the UW implements a new system soon because I’ve wanted to pull my hair out a few times the past two quarters. I’m not trying to scare you but you should be aware of the issues.

@kevinsauer, mine was at 0 as well. I was informed that they do not do an evaluation of your credit until you’ve paid your deposit.

@SolInvictus, I don’t think kevinsauer said he was applying as a transfer from one UW campus to another, I think he just stated he applied as a transfer to UW-Tacoma and UW-Seattle and that he asked UW-Tacoma when the admissions was coming out and was wondering if anyone got their decision already.

Oh, my bad, I don’t know how I managed to completely misread that! Disregard my post then :/

@SolInvictus, all good haha, we all make mistakes, at least now we know if we ever want to transfer from one UW to another haha.

@SolInvictus: Thank you for your post and I won’t disregard it. :)

I am also planning to transfer to UW-Seattle from UW-Tacoma later if I don’t get into UW-Seattle this year.

Again, thank you for the information.

I received acceptance letter from UWT on April 2nd, a lot earlier than I was expecting.

Hi @kevinsauer, I’m also a transfer student applying to UW Tacoma, I applied a little later than the priority application date. My application status is finally changed today from awaiting review into:

“All materials required to review your application to the UW Tacoma have been received. Your application has been advanced to the full review process, and will remain in this status until decisions become available. When a decision is made, you will be notified via postal mail.”

However, my unofficial transcript still hasn’t changed, it’s still showing a broken link page. May I know how long you wait for the unoff. transcript to load after the change in the application status? Thanks!

@opheliasds, you’re application is still awaiting review! It says, “Your application has been advanced to the full review process.” It should change to this when a decision is made:

“Your application to the UW Tacoma has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available.”

After you see this message, you’re unofficial transcript should load with your student no/birth date/class/college/major or at least within a couple of days!

EDIT: That is, if you do get accepted, otherwise it will not load.

@psychguy thanks a lot for the response! one more question tho, do you remember how long did it take for the status to change from awaiting review to “have been reviewed”? I’m itching for it right now, super nervous!

Mine changed within the week, but I applied before the priority deadline. It shouldn’t be much different for you though, as I can’t imagine enrollment being too high. So, you should expect to see it reviewed fairly quickly (a few weeks at most)!

I do really hope so! This university stuff is starting to drive me nuts. Anyway, thank you for your help! Best of luck to you.

@opheliasds, did you apply to Seattle to?

“I am also planning to transfer to UW-Seattle from UW-Tacoma later if I don’t get into UW-Seattle this year”

Don’t plan on it.
If you go to uw-bothell or uw-tacoma, the odds of you ever getting into uw-seattle is EXTREMELY thin. Much higher odds going from a CC

@opheliasds, my unofficial transcript loaded the same day they changed the message. :)

@psychguy no, i didn’t apply to seattle. i only applied to tacoma :-)

@kevinsauer thank you! mine hasnt changed since the last time i posted, so guess i need to keep on checking for the coming days.

@opheliasds, good luck to you! we might see each other next year :)
