I keep receiving emails from Emory which seem pretty standard, like they're sent to everyone, regarding things like student life and activties, but they send them quite often and always write "We are thrilled that you chose to apply here..." Does everyone else get these? I'm sure they're just a standard email, but if not, perhaps it's a good sign! Who knows. Maybe I'm just dreaming :)

I’ve been hoping the same thing! I hope they are not sent to everyone, but most likely they are…

This has come up in threads awhile back. On one hand, it seems most likely that everyone awaiting a decision in the RD process is getting these messages. On the other hand, relatively few posters have chimed in on this. The only decisive information would be if some current RD applicants could post and say they have NOT been receiving these emails.

Given the nature of the emails from Emory, I’d have to say that if they are being sent to everyone, this shows remarkably poor taste. The latest says “Take a Small Look at Our Big City” followed by “Emory: Experience Atlanta.” Applicants have done what they can at this point, and to send out emails to everyone saying to experience Atlanta would be both largely irrelevant and unseemly behavior, given the statistical fact that most RD applicants are going to be rejected.

Clearly, these (otherwise quite appealing) messages from Emory are designed to increase their yield, but yield is relevant only to accepted applicants. Let’s hope that these messages are a hint of good things to come. Meanwhile, if a few current applicants would chime in here (bravely) and say they have not received these emails, that would be informative.

My child is getting the same emails-applying to Emory is a reach, but something my child really wants! We didn’t apply ED because of cost, but it’s so frustrating getting all of these emails (and phone calls!!) from a school that is, in all likelihood, not going to accept my child. It’s not a nice practice-“Look at how great our school is, too bad you don’t know if you will get in”…

S has also received emails from Emory, 3-4 total, emails re school spirit, etc. We were wondering the same thing re is it meaningful contact or blanket emails.

Thanks for the feedback thus far. It looks as if Emory is just sending them out in bulk. Hopefully we can get some definite answers soon!

Pretty sure they are just sending them out… I got one lol.

Got one too…Definitely a sales pitch!

I’ve gotten several. I think these emails are just sent out in bulk.

Oh, I didn’t get any emails. But I am an international student…

Yeah, I got several emails and even some mails! Two college cataloges recently… Hope it’s a good sign! Good luck for all the applicants.

Have gotten emails from both Emory & Oxford (applied to both)…also, got a letter from the alumni office re: legacy (thanks for continuing the tradition)
Reading posts from last year, these seem to be standard.
