Receiving Packages at Cornell

I was just wondering how long it normally takes for a USPS priority mail package to be processed by Cornell and actually delivered to me. Like after the package gets to Cornell, how long does it normally take for me to get it? And does USPS deliver every day to Cornell during the weekdays? USPS priority mail normally takes 2 days from PA to NY, but it's already been 3 days and I still haven't received it. I live in Low-Rise 7. Thanks!

It doesn't take long at all. The desk at your service center (RPCC or Appel) will log the delivery and leave a slip in your mailbox if the package is too big to fit. The longest I ever waited was 2 days between arrival to Cornell and pickup.

Mail is delivered everyday. One thing I do recommend for future USPS deliveries is their delivery confirmation service...especially if it's something important :-)

do they send an email to us? or just leave the slip in your mailbox? where do they keep the packages if they don't fit in the mailbox?
haha what does delivery confirmation do? I actually do have it, but it doesn't say it was delivered or anything. thanks for responding!

Well...back when I was at Cornell...they left a slip in your mailbox saying you had package. They keep the packages in the back room until you come pick it up.

If you do delivery confirmation...you get a tracking number from the post office and you can track your package. This way...you know exactly when it was delivered. My dad did that when he mailed my prescriptions and other important items to school.

If you have delivery confirmation on this package you're waiting for..and it says it wasn't delivered...then it's not in Ithaca yet..or it just hasn't been logged into the system yet.

oh okay awesome thanks. the no email alert is kind of annoying haha i hardly check my mailbox. when does usps normally deliver to campus? like around what time?

also, can you pick up the packages at any time during the day? or does the office close like around dinner time or anything? like could i pick it up later tonight at around 9? thanks again!

The packages come to North Campus at a bit later than 2 PM. It takes a while for them to sort all them and write packing slips so you should check no earlier than 4 pm. It's prob better to check at night. RPCC close pretty late and so does Appel. There is no guarantee that Priority takes 2 days. You shouldn't worry if its been 3 days and you didn't receive it. But if you really are you can go ask them because once I got an overnight delivery from my parents and the next day it wasn't there. I asked and apparently they wrote the package slip wrong and put it in another person's mail box..

I have sent several priority mail packages to my daughter from the West Coast and with delivery confirmation I was able to determine they reached Cornell usually within 2 -3 days - however, it always took her an extra day from the day it actually arrived before she would receive a notification in her mailbox. Also, I believe that RPCC at least is open till midnight for pickups, and it may be the same with Appel.

PA-->NY will be 2 days via USPS but keep in mind, the people at RPCC has to sort through all of the packages so you may not be able to pick it up until 1-2 days after it's delivered. Keep a lookout for the slip in your mailbox.

It depends on what time it gets there. If it gets there after the morning delivery/sort, you'll probably be waiting a few hours, or a day.

Most of the packages I've gotten had been sorted through fairly quickly. Also, check with your mail center to see what time you can be on the lookout for your packages. They should have it posted (somewhere). I use Appel, but all 1st class mail for the day is in at 6PM, all UPS parcels are in by 3.

I recently got an overnight package mailed to me and was able to pick that up the next morning (11 AM). Appel service center closes at 10.
