is it cool for a college senior or recent grad to date a freshman or sophomore in college?

Freshman... maybe not so much, but upperclassmen, sure. Obviously it depends on the particular couple, their maturity level, the nature of the relationship (exploitative vs respectful etc), but in general, my guess would be that the majority of college freshmen are just not at all in the same place in their life as recent grads, so no matter how mature they are, it might be hard to relate. However, there are exceptions to every rule...

I don't think it really matters, but you might get some polite teasing from friends about the age gap (just because it's more obvious there is an age gap when you are in different years of college). I'm a 22 year old girl dating a guy who is about to turn 26, but since he didn't go to college straight away, I actually am ahead of him in school even though I'm younger. So next year I'll be a 1st year grad student dating a 5th year undergrad. I'm not sure how many of his friends actually know he's almost 26.

As long as you're at the same maturity level.

true... but in the case with grad students, you are both legal age and can go out to bars and clubs. in the case of the under 21 age group dating an older person, how much would that affect your choice... especially in a city. that is assuming one doesn't have a fake id. where the age thing may not be that great, ie. 2-3 years, the legal age can make a difference... also, does it look lame to not move on from college life?
