I see "iloveagoodbrew" answered your question for you about Forbes. I'd just like to add that my freshman year I lived in Forbes, therefore my opinion may be slightly skewed, but nonetheless I truly believe that Forbes is the best living situation on campus. The rooms are huge, you get your own bathroom, and you aren't in the middle of all the craziness you find in Towers (though this has its advantages too). I personally stayed at Pitt because of the great friendships I forged and incredible people I met. In fact, I liked Forbes so much that seemingly everything that occured during my Sophomore year seemed like a major let down, and I considered transferring again.

Now for the food situation. Though it seems like a hike...and quite frankly is when it's cold out...you will quickly get used to the walk and will find it does not bother you in the least. My advice is, unless you eat 4 times per day, use classes as a time to grab food. By this I mean, leave a little early before a morning class and grab breakfast, or following your afternoon classes get some lunch. I generally did this, especially during cold months, and found it to be much more convenient.

Hope this helps!
