A couple of noteworthy pranks at Carleton this week -

The appearance of Schiller (SCHILLER!) on the Colbert Report.

President Oden's April Fools joke to the campus - the announcement of an enormous administrative office building (designed in St. Olaf's colors) taking up the entire Bald Spot. Well played!

And apparently a group of students, in their own response to the administration’s April 1st prank, managed to sneak 3,700 balloons into the President’s office yesterday. Tight fit, I’d imagine. Yeah, welcome to Carleton.

^That video doesn’t mention the fact that they put up glossy info signs displaying the building plans on the north and south sides of the Bald Spot…they also added construction stakes, a bulldozer and a cherrypicker. :)

and they really are pretty darn convincing.

“While some few may regret the loss of the Bald Spot, current and future plans for administrative growth make it imperative that we utilize this central location.”

“Some few…” Wonder how many spontaneous protests erupted on campus before people realized it was April 1.

I can’t believe they got Schiller on the Colbert Report!! I saw it and wondered whether it was THE Schiller, but then I thought it couldn’t be…and then I came here, and it is! How on Earth did they manage that one?
