I have recieved today in the mail an appointment to the United States Naval Academy with no knowledge of a nomination from any of my senators. Is this letter useless without one? Would they send one if they didnt know I had a nomination? Someone please help..

I would imagine that you did get a nomination (just no notification of that...for which I have no idea why not). I could be wrong, but I don't think they send out appointments without the nomination. They send LOAs but not appointments. COngratulations. :)

I'm curious...maybe because I applied from the fleet my application process was different, but what is an "LOA"? I have never heard of that before.

Goodfella2487,
Congratulations! I sent you a PM.

LOA = Letter of Assurance

Goodfella-Does a nomination show up on CIS?

It says, "no records returned"

goodfella: From previous posts you indicated that you had received a nomination for the Air Force academy. So I am assuming you also applied to the USNA and requested a nomination for USNA from a MOC. Also assume you were not elligible for a presidential nomination(son/daughter of a career mil).

Couple of possiblities.
1.You could have received a MOC nomination to USNA but never got word.
2. You could have received one of the vice presidential nominations (up to 10 available).
3. You could have received one of the USNA superintendent's nominations(up to 50 available).

By the way, have you heard from AFA yet?

OMG! I just called my congressmans office and i faxed him the letter and he told me that I was legitimately in, most likely from a superintendant!! Im so happy!

That's awesome. It's funny that Navy was my # 1 and Air Force was yours, but somehow we both got accepted to the opposite academies. Either way, just going to one of them is enough for me :)

Any future Midshipmen wanna talk to me on AIM, please give me your screenname. Mines Goodfella2487. Look forward to talking to ya.
