I don’t know about you guys, but i’m pumped for recognition. To all former graduates of recognition what advice would you offer? I hear so many people fearfully talk about recognition as if it’s judgment day. My approach is this, they can make it harder but not longer. I can only put out what I have in me to offer. Do they really expect us to do everything they ask us perfectly? In my eyes, recognition is a learning experience. it’s not meant to be torture. so i’m off my soapbox. For anyone willing to share some advice or inspiration, maybe even stories, feel free to respond.

What you've said is essentially right on the money. It can only be so long, and you can only give so much. Just show us some serious effort and you'll be fine. The 14th of March will be here before you know it!

wasn't there some year that they were saying something like that, you can't stop the clock, and then they extended it for another 2 weeks. so it would've been like Basic all over again, or something. That's something I've heard. But I can't wait either!

Yes Viper "Tick-Tock you can't stop the clock" RTB's I believe. Blooming Flower my daughter Potterfan was clobbered accidentely by a rubber duckie. She ended up with a light concussion. Have fun, but March is a long way away. For now just stay off all the potential probations and keep your knowledge strong. Put out for your uppers, and stay out of their way.

'94 was "Tick-tock, can't stop the clock." My engineering teacher is a '94 grad so he was telling us about how recognition was delayed a week after some incident happened at Flatiron.

The Story

This sums up 1994's recognition. Class of 1994's Recognition - USAFA Folklore

Lol, sorry for the double story post.

RTB pride

:)

2010!!!!!!!!!!

2010... fail.

2011!!

Edit: Shoot, he finally got it. :(

Class of 2013!!! Yay?

you'll be grey, matt. lol

Awww man... that's boring

Just be thankful its not yellow

or red for that matter, ew!

Wow...now you're just asking for it... ;)

Actually, the upperclassmen WILL ask more of you than you can give. In reality they're just looking for you to give everything though, but it might seem at times like that's not enough. Rest assured, it is.

Also, make sure you continue to train for Recognition (even through Winter Leave!). Because if all you've got is not much, then you won't be able to give what is expected of you. I know a girl who failed Recognition not because she didn't try, but because she was so far below standards (like REALLY far below) that she would break before they even started. She couldn't run 200m (at barely a light jog) without passing out. Make sure you don't ever go down to that level.

Shouldn't that have been at least a little obvious to the uppers during training sessions?

Falcons '11 what would you say are the emphasis items for recognition? For example, running or pushups.

You can actually fail Recognition?
How the heck did she pass the PFT (or am I just making the assumption she did...)

Blooming --> Push-ups.
Giraffe --> That is a pretty big assumption.
