Recomend schools for me please!

I'm going into my senior year at a small lower end public school. I have a 4.0 gpa and am number one in my class. My standardized test scores are good but not exceptional (1960 out of 2400 and 1360 out of 1600). I am a Math oriented person. I am looking for a small-medium sized well respected engineering school with a scenic campus and the ability to help me financially. I would prefer my school to be on the east coast but it's not a neccessity. My research has been overwhelming and if anyone has any recomendations for schools fitting these criteria I would appreciate it!

What type of engineering are you looking to get in to?

I’m not sure yet. I guess a good variety of engineering fields would be nice so I can decide after my freshman year.

Lehigh, URochester, RPI, WPI are your prime targets.

What is your home state and what can your family afford?

Maryland. Lehigh was more of what I was looking for but I’d like a college that has at least a decent social scene

At WPI you would be eligible for at least a 20,000 scholarship by virtue of being #1 in your class…

For small schools you can also consider Union College, Clarkson University, and Lafayette College. Also some SUNY schools such as Binghamton, Stony Brook, and Buffalo have good engineering and are reasonable even if you are OOS. The WPI scholarship sounds very good as well.

Have you seen this list as a place to start? [All Engineering Schools By State](All Engineering Schools By State)

I don’t know if it’s realistic but are there any schools that are really prestigious that I could attend for under 20,000 tuition

By the way this has all been very helpful and I really appreciate it!

He was looking for ** well respected ** engineering schools and he is number one in his class. Why would he settle for these inferior schools.

^^^ Oh, maybe due to having a 1960 on the SAT, wanting engineering and needing $$$…

Clarkson isn’t at the top of the engineering schools, but it does produce grads that go on and do engineering. I think it’s location hurts it as far as attracting students. The others likely do too, though I’ll admit to not knowing any IRL. The OP should ask the schools where recent grads have been hired.

WPI and RPI would also be worth checking into. I believe they were mentioned earlier.

CRD, we’re talking engineering here. All those schools have ABET accredited programs.

Check out university of Miami engineering.

Is University of Miami engineering any better than UMD college park engineering? Also do they give money to someone like me. Im currently expecting to go to College Park but I consider that to be “settling” for a school. It’s a great school and Id be content there but Im trying to explore for a school where Id be happier or better off for my future carreer

I doubt engineering recruiting will be better at Miami than UMd.

@blibo: How is your college list coming along? What is your SAT breakouts? I thought of Case Western to add to your list but I would think Maryland would be higher ranked and would have more of a social scene. What about Boston University? I don’t have how BU is viewed.

I took the acts again and did worse after studying a lot… Very disappointing I’m thinking about taking the December sat for my regular decision schools. Il look into bu and case western
