RECOMENDED SAT II : US HiSTORY

WHAT DO U GUYS SUGGEST iS THE BEST BOOK
SINCE iM TAKING US HiSTORY HONORS .. THEY AUTOMATICALLY GiVE YOU BARRONS .. BUT WHAT OTHER BOOKS ARE GOOD THAT WiLL HELP ME SCORE ABOVE 700+

Kaplan. I haven't had U.S. history at any point in my life, since I'm German, but this book provides you with a healthy portion of confidence, a comprehensive overall context and practically any detail you need to know.

Ok, remind me that I haven't yet taken the test. But everybody whom I know and who prepped by using kaplan scored 700+ and there is quite a lot of praise around here.

The REA AP history book is helpful too. I'm also studying for the test so I can't quote results, but I've already gone through the Kaplan book and REA is more in depth.

So, everybody: How 'bout international students who don't attend any AP class and have no background knowledge of US His ? Yeah, I'm goin' to sit for the US His this Oct, however until now I haven't ferreted out any effective methods to study for the test ( not to mention no prep books, except the well-known site Sparknotes )

Can you dispense any advice or share any tips with me ? I know it will take a lot of doing, but I'll definitely try and follow you advice. I'm in a real precarious situation now, since there are only two months left to cram two year's worth of history. My target score is only 700 ( is it too much tough to the point of being unfeasible ? )
Much obliged :)

pygmalion, i actually recommend getting the princeton review AP US History book. it is good prep for the SAT2, I discovered. Hey, I got a 5 on the AP and an 800 on the SAT2 :)
Kaplan is good but I do think you would benefit from getting the PR book.

The Official SAT Subject Tests in U.S. & World History Study Guide

I second REA.

what AP book would help prepare for the US history

Finally CB decided to release some previous tests

wow CB releases the damn tests after I take them GG noobs

hopes4ivyleauge and Pygmalion:
Use REA. I used that book to cram for my APUSH final and AP test. It's very thorough and if you force yourself, you can read it within a couple days (I read pretty much the entire thing 2-3 days before my final). It's especially good if you don't know anything about USH. Granted, I didn't do that well on the subject test (I'm just going to say I was brain dead from the AP the day before..:)) but I got a 5 on the AP.

Oh, thanks kelkyann for your advice :)

But the problem with me is there is utterly no US History book available in my country ( purchasing one through Amazon as some have suggested is also beyond the realm of possiblity, for it's too much costly for me). Thus, the only source I can resort to is the eminent Sparknotes. So if anyone still keeps any notes to cram for the test, can you share them with me ? If you don't see fit, no problem at all ! Thanks in advance ;)

gosh, i have so much review material (timelines, key identifiers listing all important people/events, REA, AMSCO)...if i could mail it all to you i would!

thanks kelkyann !
