I am also taking English Honors, taking Spanish V and economics. I'll also be doing senior seminar next seminar where I'll intern somewhere; I hope to intern at a bank or someplace I can learn about business.

I've been playing soccer for my HS 4 years, am in the national honor society, I'm the secretary of the Science Honor Society, treasurer of the soccer club and I'm a delegate for the Student Organization. I'm also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society). I am the sales manager of the Event Staff of our school plays and am responsible for calculating profits, expenses and such.

I've been working as a lifeguard since last November and was recently promoted to Pool Manager.

I've been an altar boy since 1998. I now am the leader of the altar servers and serve as their mentor; I teach all new servers how to serve. I also am an assistant teacher for religious education for 1.5 hours a week.

I want to go to a good school for business, preferably in the mid atlantic/northeast area. Anyone have any recommendations for me?

Since your SATs are a little low so you may want to focus on schools that do not require the SAT like Mount Holyoke, Middlebury, Hamilton, Holy Cross, and Bates. These are all considered cream of the crop colleges and I think you will potentially get into a better school w/o submitting scores.

All SUNYs are fits if not safeties. SATs of 1600 aren't bad, but of 2400 they are a little weak. Don't let that discourage you, though!
BC is realistic, as are BU, Syracuse.

Remember: A good GPA (such as yours!) will make up for mediocre test scores (yours are mediocre AT WORST), but good test scores (also such as yours, if you want my honest opinion) will never make up for a bad GPA. So, you have nothing to worry about!

Villanova, Fordham, Pittsburgh, Bucknell. BC's students and administration are both heavily of Irish descent. If you play up your ties to Ireland, anything is possible there.

Middlebury does require standardized testing - an applicant can submit the three-part SAT I, or the ACT (preferably with the Writing Test), or three SAT II tests in different subject areas.

Also, Middlebury, like many liberal arts colleges, does not offer a Business major.

With your strong GPA, you would qualify for SAT-optional admissions at a number of great LACs. I believe there is a good thread that lists these schools.

thanks everyone! I'm actually planning on beginning an essay about ireland VERY soon. I go to Ireland every summer so hopefully my chances at BC will get better!

I want to recommend SUNY Binghamton as a safety, as someone said above. And, Northeastern University.

Some other realistic reaches may be Emory and NYU.

I'm actually in the same exact boat as you, I have a 3.8 gpa and 1770 sats and bad sat iis too. We also have similar ECs because I'm a religious ed. teacher and altar server! But anyways, I'm applying to many of the same schools as you. I think BC might be my first choice as well. Best of luck! Maybe I'll see you next year haha.

Well, no one has mentioned this yet, but are finances a consideration at all? Will you need merit money? Do you qualify for financial aid? Might make a big difference in what schools to recommend...
