Recommend Hotel Near ECU

Thanks for the info. I will let you know how her visit and audition go in November.

Good luckto your D, sopranodad819.

sopranodad, my D was accepted this week, too. She applied on October 10th and it seems like as soon as her file was complete they sent the acceptance, that's how quick it was! D was SHOCKED when she opened the letter, she cried and jumped up and down, it was her very first acceptance! We are still waiting for 8 more admissions decisions but this one from ECU seems to be her best bet. She cannot wait to go to her first football game, she is leaning heavily on sending in her acceptance to ECU as well!!

Thats Great for her it is very exciting. My D will have to wait for her audition before she decides, whats your Ds Major? If my D decides to go I will let you know so they can communicate. Congrats JSM and D.!!!!!!!

D is very excited, she hopes there will be a group on Facebook soon! D's major is Hospitality Management and is looking at their Special Events Concentration. She wants to go into the planning and design rather than the culinary end of it.

I just found this thread and was looking for some help. Sapranodad819 is your daughter still going to ECU? My daughter is looking to connect with other kids who may be in the honors dorm. Thanks!

fourscore, your d could prob. find some honors kids on Facebook. Is Umstead still the honors dorm?

Thanks for replying! Yes the dorm is Umstead, but we've not had any luck with facebook as there is not a site set up yet for the class of 2013. That's been somewhat disappointing as she had hoped to meet some other honor students before the fall.

Fourscore, I just saw my niece this weekend. She is a high school senior going to ECU next year and told me she found her roommate on Facebook. I'll ask my S. He is a fresh. at ECU and was on Facebook constantly last year meeting people
Did your D go to the Open House this weekend?

Bump…my son was accepted to ECU and is trying to decide…so, how do (or did) your children like ECU?

Thanks!

Wow, time flies. In my last response S2 was a freshman. He is a senior now and will graduate in May. ECU has been really good for him both academically and socially.
He’ll leave with great memories and be a Pirate for life. For the most part I think his instructors have been pretty good. There’s always a grumble here and there but that’s to be expected. He has really enjoyed a lot of his classes…this is a kid who was not an enthusiastic h.s. student but just did the work because he had to. It was great to hear him talk with enthusiasm about profs./classes he enjoyed. As for profs., I was pretty impressed that in his four years at a big state u., he only had one grad. student instructor and that was in a freshman level Biology lab.
ECU has a lot of school spirit.
Good luck to your S in making his decision.

PackMom - Thanks so much for your input…very helpful! I am pretty sure this is where S3 is going. We haven’t visited yet but I did hear that it is a nice campus. It’s not a suitcase school, is it?

No, ECU isn’t a suitcase sch. I’m sure many hit the highways on the weekend but with so many students, there are always plenty left in Greenville. My S2 is instate but has mostly come home for school/holiday breaks. Rare for him to come home just for a weekend.

I would highly recommend visiting and taking the official tour of the campus.

My brother is currently enrolled in the Honors College as an OOS freshman. (Maryland)

He’s come home a couple of times for non-holidays, but from what i’ve seen the campus is always busy and lively. He’s really enjoying all of his classes and has pledged a fraternity. He is very happy with his life at ECU.

Hi there! We are leaving tomorrow for my son’s freshman orientation on Monday and Tuesday. So…Best Western or Quality Inn or somewhere else? Thoughts? Are there any inns/hotels affiliated with the school or right near campus (within walking distance)?

Thanks again!
