Recommend me a College to transfer to!

I plead mercy to those of you who are experts at this.

Current status: Unranked Canadian college. Business degree, majoring in marketing and finance.

Problem? Hate it.

Looking for: A GREAT english/creative writing program. US or otherwise. With connections to the job market and a good reputation so I could find a good job afterwards. I would like to enter the advertisement and/or entertainment industry.

I've heard of Rhode Island's School of Design which is pretty well known and has strong ties with Brown University (ivy!) but i think they're more focused on the arts. Does Brown itself have a well-known english department?

Brown has over 1000 tranfer applicants and accepts under 50. Buy a Fiske Guide to Colleges or Yale's Insider's Guide to get some ideas about US schools. Unlike egalitarian Canada, they vary tremendously.

I know that and I know the criterias are extremely high. That doesn't mean I shouldn't take a chance.

Bump. Consider this your christmas time charity, haha! =)

Look into the University of Iowa. If I'm not mistaken, they have a heavy emphasis on creative writing.

Thanks! Is Iowa U well-known?

maybe syracuse? they have a great school for journalism if you ever wanted to do that..or just like anything surrounding newhouse is really good..

UIowa has like one of the top 3 creative writing programs in the country.

Sure you can take a chance, but to realize the odds at Brown, e.g., lay out 1000+ things w/ 38 = Brown acceptance. Make 10 blind draws and see just how high the odds are! Apply, give them your hard earned $$$, most likely get rejected, but thank God you applied to several backups, one or more of which you'll get into. Wesleyan is still a good school that accepts a decent amount of transfers.

But does Brown have a well-known lit program?

I know two kids with extremely strong profiles who were not accepted to Brown last year as transfers. One was coming from Penn and one from Vanderbilt. Your chances of getting into Brown are slim to none. They mainly take transfers who have had an academic hardship (had to start at community college for financial or family reasons) or who are URMs.

Knox, Kenyon.
