I am looking for more colleges to consider and would love some recommendations! I’ve used college search tools before, but most of them don’t work too well. Here are some colleges I am currently considering:
New York University
Boston University
Adelphi University
Marymount College
Northeast University
U of I Champaign
UW Madison
I am looking for colleges in a city of some sort with journalism or media studies programs. (I’m not looking for people to do research for me, just if you guys have any ideas off the tops of your heads!)
Thanks guys!

Home state is Illinois, financial situation: middle class, family will help with almost all college costs
A middle class family usually can’t help that much with out of state public universities. For example, UW will cost over $47K per year. You personally can borrow $5,500 freshman year. That leaves $42K to be covered some other way for one year. NYU gives notoriously poor financial aid, so they probably aren’t a good choice.
Every school has a net price calculator on their website. Run each one with your parents for the schools on your list before applying.
^^^Important advice about the financial component.
I immediately thought of Missouri and Syracuse, both terrific for journalism/media studies. You can see the thread on here about the difficulties at Missouri, which I think actually makes it a good contrarian play. School is making cuts because of difficult times but not so much in areas of strength, which I imagine would include the journalism school. You can research that. Syracuse is urban and northeastern like several of the schools on your list. You might also look into Emerson in Boston. Good luck.
If you can raise your ACT a little, I’d consider Northwestern, they have strong journalism and poly sci programs. If you’re interested in journalism and politics, any of the DC schools would be good - Georgetown, GW and American. Also any hooks - legacy, sport, URM, first gen etc.?
you’re in good shape, try for the 30 and then revise your list after you get the scores. I’d think UIUC could be a safety for an instate resident not applying to the engineering school.
