Recommend me some match and safety schools?

80% of incoming freshman had 3.75+ GPAs. I’d call it a reach.

There has been an increase in OOS admissions at UC schools the last couple of years due to the state’s budget crisis. OOS pay more and are rumored to be getting very little/low financial aid.

Ok thanks for that. I wish there was an easier way to compare GPA. I take the most rigorous path at a very well known high school and most of our grads end up with GPAs slightly lower than the average of the colleges they get accepted into.

Also, for LACs… I sometimes find it difficult to pick out the differences between many of them (Colby, Grinnell, Colgate, Wesleyan, ConnCollege etc.). Does anyone care to share their opinions on the (general) type of student body in some of those as well as their academic strengths? I myself am admittedly a little bit preppy and I do like to party occasionally. But academics, and reputation for gradschool/careers are most important to me.

Look at Loyola University of Maryland.

I’d recommend Vanderbilt. It has a great social life, Nashville is awesome, and if you liked UVA, BC, and Emory then it should be right down your alley. I’d also add Tulane, USC, and maybe UT. Tulane is kind of similar to Emory-it’s in the south but doesn’t feel like a southern school. USC and UT are a little bigger than you specified but both have a ton of school spirit and definitely have that college-y vibe…

Also, I have really similar stats (similar GPA and SAT, Hispanic, full pay, although I went to pretty mediocre high school) and got into Vandy. Definitely apply to a ton of schools… It’s probably the smartest thing I did.

Thanks on the Vandy rec. I don’t think I’ll get a chance to visit but my friends who have raved about it. Just curious, did you apply to vandy ED or RD?

Applied RD
