Recommend some Colleges.. I'll chance back!

Hey guys. Could you recommend some ** Reach (low, mid, high) ** , ** Target *, and * Safety ** schools for me? Also, for the ** Reach ** schools could you estimate my chances if I applied ED there? I have my heart pretty much set on Brown ED but I'm interested in gathering all the available data I can.

it is difficult to recommend schools for people, as much of your decision where to apply should not come from the name of the school, but from how well it fits with your needs and wants for college. you should apply to a few reach schools, but given your somewhat one-sided list of extracurriculars, I would focus on finding some target schools where your interest in computer science will be valued (some of the higher level schools will demand more involvement in other areas). I would consider Hamilton since you are interested in Brown, as it is a bit less selective and also has an open curriculum, although it has a focus on writing and communication, which as a science person you may not like. UVA would also be a good place to look.

Additional Info: I’m really not interested in attending a stereotypical “engineering” school such as Harvey Mudd, MIT, Caltech, or Georgia Tech.

Also, while I don’t have my mind completely set on a career path as of yet, it would be nice to go to a school with some name recognition on Wall Street should I decide to go into investment banking.

The UW GPA could hurt you a bit at those top schools. :/

Try looking at some LACs; many of them are well known and great schools. Here are some suggestions:

High reach: Brown (a bit better with ED), Amherst, Williams, Duke, Dartmouth, Columbia, Swarthmore
Mid reach: Bowdoin, Pomona, Middlebury
Low Reach: Vassar, William & Mary, Wesleyan
Match: Bates, Colgate, Smith, Washington&Lee
Safety: Bard, Mount Holyoke, Kenyon College (ranked #1 prettiest campus in the country. Beat out Princeton and Standford!)

chance back

try ED at Duke or Penn, those would be your best bets b/c they are each about 1/3 admission rate for ED

both duke and penn are higher ranked than brown also, keep that in mind, but you’ll still have a decent shot @ brown
