Recommend some places to eat

nothing fancy schmancy. I can drive too. Give me specific restaurants/FF joints, not just like Gourmet Ghetto or go down College and see for yourself. Why? Because I don't feel like driving around College and seeing for myself.

The most recent place my friends and I tried:

Cheeseboard. (lol three years here and we never tried it. Wasn't that great tbh. Will be giving it one more shot sometime in the future)

I'm down for 'za, burgers, Asian food, fusion, whatever long as I can get full and not have to order like 3 plates and dish out 20 bucks per plate.

wow. you’re supposed to be a superhero…and you can’t even cook for yourself?

just pathetic.

Yeah, shouldn’t you have some sort of utility belt function that pops out steak or something.

around campus or san fran?

Superheros are like celebrities. They just care about their name and popularity. Doesn’t mean nada. But agreed…cheeseboard isn’t fantastic. Don’t know what the hype is about.

Cafe Intermezzo on Telegraph has like $6 salads that are pretty filling.

And Brazil Cafe on Shattuck/University does a mean tri-tip sandwich. It’s around $8, I think, and they had a free mango slushie promo awhile back.

Hey meow, even a superhero has to go out with these “friends” from time to time.
cass: around Berkeley area (or a bit further works too…neighboring cities,etc.). SF is too far of a drive just to eat and kick it.
weebly: Ooh Brazil Cafe sounds good

Ever heard of Yelp?

Gregoire @ Cedar & Shattuck

Really yummy. You can feed yourself for <$10 if you go for lunch. Only downside is that there is very limited seating.

I just looked at their menu online and… I started salivating.

Tri-tip sounds amazing.

sparetire- no. please enlighten me. i’ve never typed in a restaurant name into google and hit the search button.
Besides, if I use yelp, I’d have to search through a laundry list of places and then look at 100+ reviews and by that time, I just don’t feel like going, especially if I read a few bad reviews.
whosthat- thanks. my friend wanted to try gregoire. have you had their dinner before? I wanted to try this new-ish place called Slow which was supposed to be like it.
katie- tri-tip is pretty delish. I love going to the place next to the emeryville’s amc.

Taste of the Himalayas is pretty good - on Shattuck and Virginia.
And Cafe Intermezzo is really good, I’ve heard. The salads are huge. :)

Mint Leaf, one of the best IMO, indian buffets that’s located right across from Cheeseboard. Pretty cheap too.

Gregoire. Located near Barney’s. Really good potato puffs. They have different sandwiches each month. If they have duck breast, try that one. It’s amazing!

I’ve heard La Note is really good for brunch. I’ve yet to try this one.

Pasta Bene! My most recent discovery. Located on Telegraph and Blake. Really CLEAN restaurant, great service! All their pasta is good. Calamari for an appetizer is a good indulgence. Their tiramisu is really good!

Joshu Ya: Good sushi place on Dwight/Telegraph. Free miso soup+salad with your meal. I’d recommend ordering ton katsu or the tempura plate.

Ehh…there’s way more I have, but I’m drawing a blank now. I’ll rummage through my Yelp reviews later haha; hope this helps.

just what i needed. thanks spontaneity! looks like gregoire will be my destination this weekend. have any of you ever gone there for dinner? seems like their sandwiches during lunch are more praised than their dinner entrees.
mint leaf and pasta bene will also be on the list too :)

More would be appreciated. :D

Home of Chicken N Waffles

444 Embarcadero West
Oakland, CA 94607

Order the Lord BJ; you won’t regret it.

You’re welcome, Batman17. Hope you enjoy those places! I’ll be sure to update this list soon with more places (once I remember…lol). I haven’t heard much about dinner at Gregoire, so I can’t offer any opinion on their menu. Sorry! If you’re willing to drive to Oakland, have a go at Bakesale Betty’s. They have a really good fried chicken sandwich with this awesome coleslaw and hot sauce. A perfect indulgence for anyone, but also, a sure-fire way to induce a food coma to a hungry Berkeley student haha…
