recommendation for my professor

i had asked for a recommendation letter from my professor a month ago and i have given him 2 months to write. Should i do anything (like e-mail him to check for the progress) from now till to the deadline which is a month later or just don't bother him?
Moreover, since i have not decided which graduate school i am going to apply, should i ask for many copies of the letters?

Odds are he’ll have to submit them online directly, so I’d say figure out where you want to apply, get the application process going, and then give him a sheet with all of the deadlines on it. Then periodically remind him of ones that are happening soon.

but i have not decided where to apply yet, i thought i just take his letter first and i will decide what to do with this letter afterward

The professor doesn’t give you letter directly, he sends it to the schools you’re applying to. A lot of places strongly suggest you waive your right to see the letter, I guess it isn’t really required though.
