Hello, so I'm debating on whether to ask my piano teacher for a recommendation for college- I won't be doing music in college as a major/minor, just on the side. But I have known her for a long time and I think she could talk about my personality and things my teacher recs wouldn't cover. I've already submitted some early action applications, so this rec would only go to my reach schools, which are due Jan 1. Do you think its a good idea to get this extra rec or will it be too much information that the college admissions people won't want to read... ?

When it comes to recommendations, it is all about finding someone who knows you and will write positive things about you. I had my french teacher write me a recommendation because she knew me very well. I am a fashion major at Marist College, so I am not majoring or minoring in French. So, if you feel that your piano teacher is going to write you a glowing recommendation, then do it!

Thanks for the response!
Do you think that even if I don’t send in a CD or anything and I don’t have any music awards, I should still send in the recommendation?
