<p>Thats a tough call. Colleges like recommendation letters from academic teachers from sophomore and especially junior year. I would choose the chemistry teacher. You could choose your coach if he also knows about your academics. I would suggest asking another academic teacher (not from 9th grade) or your HS counselor.</p>

<p>honestly it depends on the school and your major. If you are planning a science-related major then obviously chem. teacher would be better. Do you have any other teachers that you think would write a good letter of rec? How about your counselor? Does your college accept 2 letters of rec? Then I would just ask both teachers.</p>
