Hello,
As the title suggests, I am planning on getting a recommendation letter from my AP CS A teacher. I am a sophomore, so that makes it a bit challenging. He is also planning on retiring this year, and I plan on majoring in computer science/artificial intelligence in college.
Should I get a recommendation letter from him?
Thanks.
Ideally it’s best to get two recs from teachers, one on humanities, one in math or science. If you really like this teacher and he really likes you, and you think he can write a good rec, sure, ask him. If you are only asking becasue you plan on majoring in CS in college, that’s not a good reason. The point of the rec is to give admissions an insight into your character and learn something about you that can’t be seen in the rest of your application.
Yeah, I like this teacher a lot, and I am (probably) one of his favorite computer science students, out of the eight people in our class. I also plan on getting recommendations from a history teacher (teaches Pre-AP USH and AP USH), my PLTW engineering teacher, my AP Statistics/AP Calculus teacher, and my AP Physics 1/AP Physics C teacher.
