Recommendation letter(s) - which teacher(s) to ask?

D is stressing which teacher(s) to ask to write her a recommendation letter. At the end of last year, she was convinced it should be the math teacher she's had all 4 years of high school, but she only got a 3 on the BC (& AB subscore) AP exam, however she gave up lunch 3-4 days/week last year to tutor his low-level Algebra I students. After the AP exam scores, she thought she should ask her AP Chem teacher, as she got one of the few 5s in the class & has him for an elective this semester. Now she's wondering if her AP Lit teacher (who also had in 10th grade) would be a good character reference, as they have a good raport.

She plans to major in Science - likely Bio.

I'm suggesting she stay with the Math teacher, as he can bring in her leadership skills with the tutoring, in addition to the academics.

She will also have a great reference from our youth minister about her leadership & volunteer work over the years, so I don't think she needs 2 teachers.

Anyone?

Many schools want two teachers.

^Yep. Most schools aren’t just looking for anyone who knows your kid well. They want information from teachers.

However, most schools allow supplemental recs.
