Hi so I have a bit of an issue.
I’m getting my 2 rec letters from my sophomore year AP Physics 1 teacher, and my junior year AP Chemistry teacher. I have been told by peers that a rec from two science teachers is considered weak, but to be honest I feel like they saw my best performances and me truly as a student and person. I think any other teacher would write my something generic, although positive. I’m planning on studying biochemistry or chemical engineering, if that is relevant. Thoughts? Advice? Im just stressed about these two recomendations looking bad to admissions officers.
Even MIT, as hard core as they come, wants a letter from a humanties teacher (see https://mitadmissions.org/apply/firstyear/letters-of-recommendation/) for kids that by and large are going to study science or engineering.
And its for exactly the reason you allude to in your post. Other teachers don’t know you well and may write “something generic”. You’re not going to hide this when you submit recs from 2 science teachers, adcoms are experienced enough to read between the lines.
