I'm currently a freshman in a big public school and it was hard for me during the first semester to get along with the professors. i'm planning to transfer as a sophomore and i could only get 2 recommendations from TAs: one physics TA and one english TA. I'm planning to major in engineering. the universities that i'm applying to are like cornell, upenn, columbia, etc. i got 4.0 and had decent ECs, SAT, rank, etc.

Defintely not. It doesn’t really matter to the university whether your letter of recomendation is from the president of the university or from an athletic coach. They want to hear a neutral perspective of your capacity to bring something to their campus.

If your TAs know you have great potential and will account for this than they will make for excellent letters of reccomendation.

I transferred from a big state school last year and all my recs were from TA’s. I got into both cornell and penn, along with six other highly ranked schools. You’ll be fine. Good luck!
