Recommendation Letters

Basically what I want to know is how do you bring up recommendation letters with professors about a transfer?

I'm doing research with two different professors and I feel like if I bring it up it'd be a slight to the entire process of accepting me into the lab... I feel like they thought they were investing time into me and now I'm "dishonoring" them or something. Also, if I don't get in with a transfer, won't it be weird to still work with them?

Also - I got to know my multivariable TA pretty well, do you think it's wise to have him write me a letter of rec too?

The time to hesitate is through. Really. How awkward it is or what they think won't affect your future. Go and get your letters, don't be silly. If you releally care about these people's feelings and want to be extra careful, explain how important it is for you to transfer. Focus on whats compelling you. For me - need blind schools will save me from not being able to afford school at all in less than 2 semesters. Use an e-mail during the holidays, to avoid confrontation and have the chance to explain yourself better than inbetween running gels. Or just ask like it's nothing. Just make sure that after you ask they love you more than ever and want to praise you. Be sappy - my guess is, it'll work for you.
Good luck, and seriously, you live in your own little world. This life is more serious than that. You have to do what you have to do. If you are not happy at the school and if you have an opportunity to do better, you owe it to yourself. Research is cool and all, but if you ask me it is the least important thing now that you are confused about schools. I was doing research too and I left just to ensure that I will get 4.0 and box my transfer. The best decission of my life. Yeah they though they'd have me forever, it was nice connections and all and now it's all gone, but what's it gonna be: harvard or the fly cages?
I think I made my point. Good luck, once again.

"Would you feel comfortable writing a leter of reccommendation for me? I just feel that you would be the best person to ask."

Honestly, being asked to write a rec. can be considered a bit of an honor, try and make sure they know you're transferring first. If one reacts too badly you're better off not asking him.

Even though you are transferring it doesn't reflect on those professors, it reflects on the school. Just makes sure the guys know it's something else in the schol you're unsatisfied with.

Try to ask towards the end of the semester or after the semester is over - if you fear awkwardness between you and your professor, this way if they say "no" you don't have to seem them again/much longer. And if they say "yes" you won't feel too pressured to do above and beyond for the rest of the semester.

I just asked three of my professors, in private would they mind writing me a recommendation.
