Recommendation Letters

So far, I’ve heard two completely different things about who to get recommendation letters from. Some people say that I should ask teachers whose classes I did extremely well in, while others say teachers whose classes I did poorly in. I’m applying as a Computer Science Major, and I did extremely well in all my CS classes (Straight As all three courses, two by the same teacher) but I didn’t do as well in my math classes. I also had the same teacher for math for the past 2 yrs. So should I get a rec from my math or from my cs teacher? (I think they would both write equally good recs).

Thanks

@drdevice Generally, just get recs from teachers who liked you.

I think it’s most logical to get a rec from a teacher whose class you loved the most, especially if you participated a lot in class. The only reason you would get a rec from a teacher whose class you didn’t do well in is if you showed drastic improvement over the year. That’s my opinion, at least.

“while others say teachers whose classes I did poorly in.” Hunh? That’s simply AWFUL advice. Insane.
