hey everyone, i have an interesting recommendations predicament: I take a course called Senior Humanities, which is an honors course team-taught by four teachers (social studies, art, english, and music). The music teacher also happens to be my choir director. I've known her for a long time, and she appreciates both my singing talent and my coursework in humanities. Could I use her as a main recommendation because she technically teaches the humanities class, or would admissions write her off as only a music teacher? Additionally, would it be legit for her to discuss my singing AND my coursework in one recommendation?

It's not something I would risk. I would include it as a third letter (literally under the first and second). If they read it, they get an even better impression of you. If they don't, no harm done. If they consider her a music teacher, you still have what they want, and it may provide an additional boost to your app.

They probably would write her off as a music-only teacher, though...

thanks for the quick response! yeah i'll definitely end up using her one way or another...
