Is it OK to ask someone during the summer to write your recommendation? In my school, we're required to ask teachers for recommendations before junior year ends. I had this really good teacher in mind (we're close), but I had her sophomore year, so I decided not to ask. The thing is though, I'm applying abroad, and they're OK with having a rec. from a 10th grade teacher. I've decided that I want to ask her, but is it too late now? I don't think she'll mind too much, but is it appropriate to ask her through an email? Or did I lose my chance, and should I ask one of the teachers who are already writing me a rec to submit it to the schools abroad also?

over 70 views, and absolutely no one has an opinion?

If the teacher likes you, then I don’t see what the problem would be. I’m sure there are other kids who also forgot to ask a teacher and are asking during the summer.

It’s kinda hard to help when none of us really know your school’s policy towards letters of recommendations…

They already said they were supposed to ask before the end of junior year, preferably a junior year teacher. That’s more that what most people know about letters.

@OP; since school is out I think an e-mail to the teacher is perfectly fine. They might be annoyed because you’re a little late (and for our teachers, many of them have quotas so if you did that you might’ve just be outright denied), but if they like you they’ll write a recommendation. Personally, I asked one of my sophomore teachers for a rec and I think hers will be the stronger of my two. So go for it.

Just E-mail her. I asked two of my teachers on the classes I’m taking next year and for a recommendation letter for an internship about an hour ago. They’re fine with it, but they would wish you would do it sooner. My internship letter I requested for was for a revision because she spelled my name wrong lol. My recommendation letters were from Freshman and Sophomore teachers, so I don’t think you’ll be fine.

alright, thanks :)

I feel so bad! I meant to say “So I’ll think you’ll be fine” Sorry.
