Recommendation question

How many recommendations are we allowed to send to colleges because I am stuck between 4 teachers and dont know whom to ask?? Thank you

I'd say try not to go over 3...more just clutters up your folder. I mean, if you're good, 3 recs will be plenty. The 4 really wont add anything.

READ THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS!!! Sometimes they tell you not to have more than two teacher recommendations. What colleges would like to see is a more detailed view of who you are as a person, beyond the transcript. So, if you like science, for example, and you've done well in it, then ask your bio or chem teacher to write a recommendation on your behalf. That teacher will expand upon your successes in science and may portray some good attributes to the admissions committee. The other one should be from an English or Social Studies teacher. You just need someone who can write in the English language clearly so that they can bring out a good image of you not just as a student but as a person in general. Good Luck!

if each have something meaningful, insightful, and different to say, i'd say send them all. i did. i had about 3 teachers, 1 administrator, 1 school board member, 1 law firm partner, 1 superintendent, 1 college counselor all write my recommendations, and i sent them to most/all of my schools. but i was sure each had something different to say, since i dealed with them all differently, and i have very special bonds with them.
