Recommendation Question

Does the recommendation HAVE to come from a teacher from your school? I want to get one from my coach for my sport, but he technically does not work at the school (he is a teacher at a different one, but coaches our team).

Also, one of my other teachers has left the school. Can she still write me one as well?

Also, do i HAVE to use the commonapplication teacher evaluation form? or is there alternatives.

Sure you can have your coach write you one, and you can also certainly have a teacher that left your school write you one. However, in the former case, I would make sure that you also use a recommendation from a teacher of an academic subject. In the latter, I think as long as she taught you when she was at your school, then you would be fine.

ohh ok cool, because i was going to use "teach" in broad terms including sports :P

and yes, one is academic: the one who left was a bio teacher. But back on the commonapp, are their alternatives to the commonapp evaluation?

For recommendations, "teacher" is used in the narrow sense, and most colleges want teachers in the academic subjects.

You can use the schools' own teacher evaluation forms, if they have them. Otherwise, use the common app's form.
