recommendation question

does MIT care about which teachers write the recs (other than the one math/science and one language/humanities/social science)? i mean, do they value a recommendation from an english teacher more than say, a social studies teacher or a language (french) teacher?

is it uncommon to get a recommendation from a foreign language teacher?

Not to my knowledge, no. You should pick the teacher who can write you the best letter.

IIRC, I picked my theatre teacher for the humanities recommendation, and I asked my band director to write a supplemental recommendation.

My son had a history teacher write his second recommendation. A foreign language teacher should be a fine choice.

Try to get someone who will write a good recommendation. But also get someone who reveals things about you. Having a teacher just say XYZ student is the bestest student that has ever graced my classroom EVER!!!!1111 will not really help much. And the best teacher recs are always written in a brutally honest style.
