Recommendation Question.

Hi there.

When asking one of my teachers to fill out my recommendation forms and write a letter, she asked for my unweighted and weighted GPA. The only problem is, our school does not weigh GPAs, so I'd have to calculate it myself.

I was just wondering if the schools below look at GPAs differently. For example, UCs don't factor freshman year into your GPA and only count 8 semesters of AP/Honors classes for extra points.

So my question was, do the schools (i've listed below) count GPAs differently? Such as counting ninth grade and/or every honors/AP class a student has taken. Because it would make a big difference between my unweighted and weighted GPAs.

Schools:
Saint Mary's College of California
New York University
Chapman University
Claremont McKenna College

I hope that this made sense, and thank you to anyone who can answer this.

Each college makes gpa calculation decisions its own way.
You should contact admissions at the colleges on your list and see how they calculate gpas.
Also check with your teacher to find out if they really need the weighted gpa. Seems that since your school doesn’t weight gpa, the teacher probably doesn’t need to have you calculate a weight, which would be arbitrary anyway. If the teacher’s filling something out that asks for a weighted gpa, the teacher probably could just say that the school doesn’t weight gpa.
