<p>I recently asked one of my English teacher to write me a recommendation. Of course she agreed, because she really enjoyed teaching me and I made an A every semester. However, my guidance counselor told me to go ahead and apply to the school I wanted. </p>

<p>What if they receive my app and they don't have the recommendation yet? I'm concerned!</p>
<p>It’s fine. Technically, the recommendation is part of the application, so you haven’t actually submitted your application completely–you just submitted part of it earlier. Colleges will wait until they receive the entire application.</p>
<p>Oh i see. the college doesn’t require recommendations though, so does that make a difference? I just decided to get one.</p>

<p>I’d call or email them, just to let them know that they should be receiving a recommendation letter, if they haven’t already. That way they’ll know not to read your file until it is complete, with the letter.</p>
