<p>Would having a sophomore teacher write a rec for me be detrimental, even if I feel that this teacher is the best choice? </p>

<p>I've searched through a bunch of past threads but have gotten no definitive answer. Some say that having a freshman or sophomore year teacher write a rec hurts your application (however, if it means anything, I'm getting a junior year teacher's rec too), but I think that this teacher knows me best and would be a good advocate.</p>

<p>It’s fine so long as a school doesn’t require a rec from 11th or 12th grade teachers specifically. Usually they prefer 11th grade teachers, as they’ve had you more recently, but there’s nothing saying you can’t - especially if they know you the best.</p>
