<p>There are two colleges my ds is going to apply to. Both say recs are optional. What is your opinion? These are both safety schools and there will be no problem getting in, so I wonder if recs are even needed? Do they help in terms any merit money?</p>
<p>Sounds like they won’t be necessary for admissions, but for merit scholarships, it’s really hard to know what colleges will look at. It seems like the most your D has going for her the better. It isn’t that much more work for her teachers to send LORs to a couple more schools, so it couldn’t hurt and it might help.</p>
