Recommendation Requirements

I have a few questions about recommendations.

Is there a place where all the weird rec requirements for different schools is centered? Or do I have to look up each school’s website? Like I just looked at a few of my schools, and Tufts needs a junior or senior year teacher and Colgate needs sophomore, junior, or senior.

Does the Common App recommendation form allow for freshman teachers? I really want to get a rec from one of my freshman teachers.

Thanks

no answers--saddening :(

1) Common App might let you check. Most likely you'll have to check individual websites.

2) Can't think of a reason why the form wouldn't "allow" for freshman teachers. Don't know how colleges will view it though (unless you're planning on sending it as a supplemental)

1) You need to check each school's website, not just for recommendation requirements but for testing requirements, deadlines, any scholarship requirements or different deadlines, where to send materials, additional forms, etc. No matter where else you look, ALWAYS double check your information from the school's website. Things change way too quickly to rely on second-hand information.

2) The forms "allow" you to send whatever you want. Most schools, however, would prefer a junior or senior year teacher, due both to the increased difficulty of the courses, and to their knowledge of you as a more mature high school student, closer to the kind of student you will be in college. This is another one of the requirements that you should confirm on a school's website.
