Recommendations and School Report missing :S

So I just checked today, and my Eli account says that my teacher recommendations and myu school report have not been rweceived by Yale. I submitted them on the 25th of October. Should I call them?

Is there anyone else facing a similar situation? :S

I submitted mine way before that and they got it… maybe wait a bit and see?

well my teachers mailed them on the 28th and today i checked, yale’s got them…
maybe u should wait, does it say “they r missing”? or it just doesn’t say anything

They have an X beside them and it says “Not received”. I am really worried.

One of my D’s teacher recommendations was checked not received by Yale, and I know that one teacher sent around 10/28 or 10/29. I would just wait for a few days. If the information are still missing after this week, then email/call Yale admission.

How is waiting going to help?
Why would Yale still not have processed something and then scare an applicant by putting “Not received” next to it? The least they could do is say “Not processed”, if there was a chance they might have received something but have not been able to process it yet.

Anyway, Susan9, I would recommend just emailing your teachers and counselor telling them to fax copies to the File Room (203-777-6120) with your application number and name on top. This is what I have done.

When you’re processing thousands of applications, stuff gets lost. Feed is right (I’m assuming s/he contacted Admissions to see how they wanted missing materials re-sent.) Yale wants to review your application, and they’re alerting you to the problem so you can resolve it. They’re not sitting around looking for ways to throw applications into the reject pile unread.

I have a similar question, if only one teacher recommendation is marked as “not received” how do we know which teacher it is? Does it have any correspondence to the “teacher evaluation 1” and “teacher evaluation 2” forms from the common app (as in is the first spot for evaluation 1, and the next for evaluation 2)?

They tell us how to resend the documents in the Eli account. You can either fax or send by mail. I personally think faxing to their File Room would be more efficient (they have hinted at this on the Yale College website).

Interesting scenario. You would obviously want to contact them directly via email about it. Or, you could just resend both your teacher recs to be on the safe side. Although I’m not sure how keen they are on receiving items more than once.

Hey Susan, if this makes you feel any better, both my teachers’ recommendations and school report are marked missing as well:( According to the guidance office at my school, they sent everything out Oct 20th, so I don’t even see any reason for Yale to not have received the forms unless they were lost in the mail.

Melody, I think calling would be your best bet. Admissions officers are very, very slow to respond to emails.

xrCalico23, I think we should call asap, the worse thing would be to get deferred because they did not get our mailed stuff on time :(

^ Notice that you can fax them stuff that’s missing. Try calling them tomorrow to ask if it’s possible that they still haven’t processed some stuff, and if they say no, then fax your forms. They’ll receive everything instantly. :)

Eli account shows that School Report is missing, which was sent on Sept. 30 by school counseling office. My D. will ask school counseling office to fax those to Yale tomorrow. Will it affect early action application ? Any other things can she do ? Should she or high school counseling office explain this to Yale admission office ?

Thanks for the advice Feed and rockermcr  I’ll call them first thing tomorrow.
And good luck Susan and Calico, I’m sure your school forms will turn up soon!

@nanjing,
I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think it should affect decisions. First off, it’s not your daughter’s fault, and second, this is the first day that the eli accounts show the status of the school forms, so as long as you fax them in asap, it should be no problem

I’m an international student. My school packeted and stamped (with the school’s seal) all of my recommendations and transcripts which I then FedExed. My stuff reached the Yale Office by 29 October (I tracked it using my FedEx tracking number). However, when I logged onto my Eli account just now, my stuff still shows up as missing. Should I call Yale? Or is it possible that my stuff hasn’t been processed yet and that I should wait awhile more (are things diff for us internationals?)? I’m beginning to get a bit worried.

Should I ask my school to fax my things ASAP?

^Yeah, probably. According to my school guidance website, the guidance even got a receipt confirming that Yale received my transcript, recs, and school forms, but on my application page they’re still listed as “not received”.

@Susan: actually, right now, I’ll be quite happy if I’m just deferred and not rejected since I’m not a very strong applicant in the first place.

Similar situation in my kid’s case. Schools forms were sent in 3rd week of September, but are showing as not received. Other schools that were sent the forms at the same time show as received. Time to get the counseling office to warm up the fax machine!

This is really bad for me :frowning: My school’s currently closed (along with its offices) for the mid-semester vacation! It won’t open till early Dec. I don’t know what I’m going to do now!! It’s sad that so many peoples’ materials are likely missing :(

I’m desperately, desperately praying that Yale hasn’t processed all of its information yet because otherwise I’ll just get deferred. =( My school won’t open in time…
Does anyone know if Yale continues to process info after Nov 15? What’s the latest by which I can fax Yale? It’s really too expensive for me to call the university from where I am…
